The weight of the 13ft no.2 is 171g on my kitchen scales.
I know full well that bare weight figures aren't the be all and end all. Balance is just as important, including the reel that's attached to the rod. I also know that you can't get a full picture of a rod without using it for a while. However, with the number of rods I already own, the Cadence rods need to have something special to tempt me into splashing the cash to find the full picture. Unless I manage to at least have a waggle, there's not enough to tempt me just yet.
I suspect that the lightest rods I own are Drennan Acolytes. Their weight is so little that I'm not surprised that so many walked out of tackle shops. They are instantly impressive due to their lack of weight. My next lightest are probably my Normarks. It's also worth bearing in mind that Normark invariably used dirty great rubber butts. These will have added a couple of ounces and altered the balance of the rod.
A rod range I still have a huge attachment to just happens to be one of the heaviest I own. It's not really a rod for trotting though, due to the bulk. One of the nicest things about them is that almost no one else rates them, so I can pick them up for a modest amount.
An ounce or two at 13' definitely isn't the biggest deal. A proportional differential does start to become important as the rods get longer though, especially in a trotting rod.
